Running Outfit

I used to throw on any old shirt and shorts to work out, but a few years ago I started paying more attention to my clothing choices.  I want to feel great in the clothes that I workout in…and of course they also have to be comfortable!  It turns out I’m not alone.  This Runner’s World article describes the rise of stylish athletic wear.

My standard running outfit consists of a pair of shorts, sports bra, tank top, socks and shoes.  Over the past couple of years, Lululemon has become my favorite place for workout clothes.  They can be a little pricey (I’ve been gathering pieces over time, including birthday and holiday gifts), but the quality and comfort can’t be beat.  Plus, they are constantly coming out with new styles and patterns that you can easily mix and match!  The speed shorts and cool racerback are my go to shorts and tank.  Just because you’re working out doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look great!  The most difficult staple for me to find is a sports bra that fits right.  I recently picked up the Hullabraloo and VaVa Sport Bra from Athleta.  They come in actual bra sizes and I’ve been really impressed with both of them so far!

As mentioned here and here, I am training for my first full marathon.  We finished week 7 of the 20 week training program so we’re close to halfway done!  It was the first week that I’ve felt some aches and pains as the mileage has been increasing.  I’m a little nervous about my body holding up through the training and the 10 mile run last Saturday wiped me out for the rest of the day.  But I already feel like it’s such an accomplishment (we haven’t missed a training day yet!) and keep reminding myself that I still have 13 weeks left to build up my strength and distance.
