Holiday Gift Guide: For the Kid in You

2015-Gift-Guide_For-Kid-in-You

Hello, hello! I had every intention of posting this gift guide last week, but party planning got the best of me. We hosted some of Jim’s work friends and their significant others last Friday. It was lots of fun and gave us an opportunity to mix things up around the house a bit. Then on Saturday I ran 6 miles!! First time since February 2014. I signed up for the Phoenix Half Marathon at the end of February to give my workouts some structure. Once I have a plan I’m pretty good about sticking to it. Without a plan, my motivation and commitment lacks.

As if the weekend couldn’t get any better, Saturday night was spent watching The Holiday while sipping on a glass of red wine with a cheese board in front of me. Good stuff.

So here it is, my last gift guide of 2015. This one is for the kid in you…it’s been one of my favorites to put together. But let’s be honest, I really enjoy putting them all together. I hope they’ve been helpful as you planned out your holiday shopping this year!

one: matching pjs aren’t just for kids. pick up a cozy pair of sparkle plaid flannel pajamas for your best friend or sister to lounge in on christmas day (on sale for $70 plus 30% off).

two & three: coloring books are all the rage for relaxing with a favorite childhood activity. and it doesn’t get better than a harry potter coloring book and colored pencils.

four: an updated take on the journal you kept under lock and key as a pre-teen, a 5-year memory journal makes recording your memories easy. with one line a day, even the busiest person can fit it in to their life.

five: the mac & cheese cookbook isn’t the kind out of the box you had as a kid.

six: the aerobie like a frisbee, but better.

seven: Her Story is a game that reminds me a little of Serial. It’s your job to watch videos and piece together the mystery of a woman and her missing husband.

eight: Inside Out is on my wish list of movies to see. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from kids and adults alike.

nine: And what’s better than popcorn on movie night? Ice cream! I first read about Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in one of Joy’s posts earlier this year. The best news – you can ship it anywhere!

ten: playing in the rain and splashing in puddles is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a carefree pep in your step. of course now that you’re an adult, you want to do it in style with a pair of hunter rain boots.

  1. The Holiday is easily one of the best holiday movies, ever! Second to Love Actually, of course :) Completely agree with you on the coloring book front…adult coloring books are everywhere these days, but I’m always down for an old childhood favorite!
