In with the New

In-With-The-New

The first Monday of the new year. I’m not going to lie, it’s a little rough to take. Instead of jumping into my to do list, goals and intentions, I’m going to reflect on the holidays for a bit longer.

My family keeps telling me that next Christmas I’ll get fewer gifts as they shift their purchases to little luv. I do enjoy receiving gifts so I really hope it’s not true, but if it is, they were very generous this year. Although you’ll see some of them in future blog posts, I wanted to share a few of my favorites.

2014 was the year of J. Crew. The navy puffer vest will keep me warm this winter (on sale for $79.99 and an additional 40% off). I also received a denim jacket (my first in years) and flannel shirt. They’re all things I can wear now and post-baby.

I’ve wanted a new watch for a couple of years. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew I wanted it to be a little bit different. Lucky for me, Jim has great taste and picked out the Shinola Runwell for me. With a slate leather band and sapphire face, it includes two of my favorite colors. I absolutely love it!

Of course the momma to be side of me wasn’t ignored. I religiously apply moisturizer to my belly, sometimes twice a day. I’ve heard great things about the Mama Bee Belly Butter and can’t wait to try it. My brother was so sweet and picked up a baby book for us. I’ve done remarkably little shopping for him. The book is a fun way to document this pregnancy and his first year. Of course, I wanted some new clothes to get me through these last three months. A thicker pair of leggings will be a lifesaver and you can never go wrong with a grey sweater (both on sale!). And how about these Pee-pee Teepees? Aren’t they the cutest things you’ve ever seen?!

The Top with Cinnamon cookbook is filled with beautiful photos and yummy looking recipes. The author and blogger is all of 18 years old. Amazing. I’ll report back on my favorite recipes once I’ve tried a few. Or maybe I’ll just look at the photos. :)

My mom is something of a lotion and soap aficionado. She introduced me to L’Occitane years ago. It’s one of the only brands that keeps my skin hydrated during the dry winters. I’ve written about the shea butter body cream before (here and here); the hand and foot lotion are other favorites.

Although I’m not finished with my goals and intentions for 2015, I know they will include improving my photography skills. I’m banking on the Lumu light meter helping me out. It’s a newer product that started with a kickstarter campaign. Seriously, what did we do without kickstarter?

What was your favorite gift this year?
