My 4-Step Natural Skincare Routine

Natural Skincare Routine

It’s been a bit since I shared my natural skincare routine. I’ve made a few changes recently and thought an update was in order.

I’ve got a good thing going with these 5 products. I use 4 of them at night and only 2 in the morning. This summer I’ve been in the habit of skipping all makeup most days, which means my morning routine tops out at about 45 seconds. ;)

All of these products are natural, which is important to me. Some of them are pricey (hello, Vintner’s Daughter), but I justify it since I don’t get facials, botox or any other facial treatments.

NIGHTLY ROUTINE

At night, I start with the Kari Gran cleansing oil. I used to dread washing my face at night, but this product actually changed all that. I’ve been using it for a year and a half and look forward to using it to kickoff my nightly routine.

Next, I spritz my face with Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence. Is it mandatory? I don’t know, but it’s certainly refreshing. I’ve had the bottle for years (do they expire? if so, it’s definitely expired) and am working my way through it.

I’ve read a million posts about why Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is the holy grail of skincare. And while I wouldn’t go that far, I very rarely ever get a pesky pimple after using it for the past 6+ months. It hasn’t done shit for my dark spots, but I’m not sure anything on the natural spectrum will. WHY DIDN’T I WEAR SUNSCREEN WHEN I WAS YOUNGER? Biggest regret of my teens, twenties and early to mid-thirties.

Lastly, I add a layer of Beautycounter No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil. I’ve also tried the No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil and love both of them. The facial oil is my latest Beautycounter obsession. My skin is so soft after using it and I don’t feel like it clogs my pores.

I used to finish with an eye cream, but Grace told me (along with her other blog readers) that you don’t need one if you use a good serum and moisturizer. Since I forgot 90% of the time anyway, this was very good news for me. And I truly don’t think I need an eye cream after using the facial oil.

MORNING ROUTINE

After splashing cold water on my face, I apply a layer of the Beautycounter Facial Oil and follow it with the Hynt Beauty Sun Prep Broad Spectrum SPF 25. When I wear makeup, I rely on my Dew Skin for SPF. I found myself uninspired to wear makeup the past 6 weeks and went in search of a daily sunscreen. The gals at The Detox Market recommended Hynt Beauty Sun Prep. After trying a sample for a couple of days, I was hooked. It is super light and sinks right in (it smells amazing too).

That’s it folks, easy peasy. You can read more about my go to face masks here and here. I try to use them 2x a week at night in between the Kari Gran oil cleanser and Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence.

P.S. 36 hours after I wrote this post (I wrote it last week), I got two pesky pimples. So maybe don’t trust anything I have to say.
