Reading List: No. 2

books, reading, summer, recent reads

I haven’t read as much this summer as I thought I would, but I’ve read a few books lately that I couldn’t wait to share.

What Alice Forgot was my favorite book of those that I’ve read recently. I love a good romantic comedy and this book hit the spot for me. It reminded me how people change over time. Change is good as long as you don’t lose yourself in the process.

Daring Greatly is a bit more of a self-help read. I generally don’t gravitate towards these types of books. I got this one as a gift and am so glad that I did. I’m a worrier, anxious and a bit of a perfectionist, which isn’t always a great combination. I’m concentrating on feeling joy, rather than fear, as my primary emotion.

The Husband’s Secret is written by the same author as What Alice Forgot. I liked it so much I immediately followed it up with The Husband’s Secret. It kept me interested throughout, but was a little bit darker. Still a good book.

I read Gone Girl over a year ago, but since it’s opening in theaters October 3rd you’ve got to read it now. The book is always better, right?! Gone Girl is a thriller that will keep you turning the pages to figure out what happens next. Since I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to psychological thrillers, I only read it during the daylight. (It really isn’t bad, I’m just a wimp and a worrier.)

Happy reading!  Oh, and what should I read next?

Brene Brown is great. Wendy even sent me to a seminar that used material that Brene created called the Daring Way. I suggest Madeleine Albright’s book called “Prague Winter” for all of the Bohemian’s out there :)
