Rock ‘n’ Roll

marathon trainingCompleting a full marathon has been on my “bucket list” for the past several years, but I hadn’t committed yet. Knowing that I needed a catalyst, my luv got me a treadmill for my birthday and he signed up for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona marathon. Now I get the chance to cross it off my list! We’re following a 20-week training program that I found in Runner’s World magazine. The program ranges from 4-5 days of running and 12-44 miles each week.  Over the next few months, I’ll share training updates and my must-have items for running at any distance.  What are your favorite running tips?

Good For You! I will keep watching for tips but only for a 1/2 marathon. I guess you need to start somewhere.

My must have items can also be used for a half marathon too. Running any distance is an accomplishment!

My only advice is to follow the plan and don’t skip any runs. I’m a chronic undertrainer and can feel it on race day. For my next marathon I’m going to follow the Tom Holland plan, running more often but fewer miles.

Be sure to run in all sorts of weather, that way you’ll be prepared for anything in race day. My 3 longest runs were in the rain, luckily race day was dry.

That’s good advice! I plan to run in the cold in MN in late December…just in case there is snow in AZ on race day!!
