It’s Friday, so that’s something. I’ve been in a bit of a funk this week. The taste of spring we had last week gave me so much life. I love lunches and afternoons outside in the sunshine. This week has been full of grey skies and light snow on rooftops in the morning (+ a winter weather advisory on Thursday night/Friday morning!)
After the excitement of Easter and birthday celebrations the past couple of weeks, this week felt a little quiet. As a reset from all the sweets, I decided to do a 10-day Whole30 (Whole10, if you will). I’m following the Whole30 “rules” with a few exceptions: I’m allowing added sugar in bacon and sausage, peanut butter, and rice. I started on Tuesday and it’s going great.
Lawson has off of school today and Monday. It feels like he just had off for spring break, but I guess it’s been a few weeks. It’s his last break until he’s finished for summer. Thinking of him as a first grader may have a little to do with my funk this week!
After 6 weeks of construction, our basement is complete (pending final inspection on Tuesday)! As soon as the carpet was installed, it felt like the basement became an extension of our home. It’s hard to imagine it as unfinished now. While the construction is complete, we need to move stuff back into the storage space and put together the rock wall (paint the mountains, install the ladder, monkey bars and climbing rocks). We ordered a big TV for the space that will be delivered tomorrow. I have a feeling our weekend will be spent doing all of these things!
Weather permitting, Lawson has soccer and golf on Saturday afternoon. I’m taking advantage of the gloomy weather to take a solo trip to Nordstrom on Sunday. I need a minute to look at bras and underwear without the kiddos running around. That’s about it for us. Hope you have a sunshine filled weekend!
HIGH POINT:
After Sybil goes to bed, Lawson and I have been snuggling in our bed for 15-30 minutes. It’s such a sweet time to spend together.
LOW POINT:
The grey skies and my grey mood.
I hope you feel better this week. I know the funk comes and goes for me. Most of the time it’s because of distant learning. I can’t wait for it to be over but at the same time it’s bittersweet knowing my son will be back in school this time next year. One day at a time right? I hope your week is going well so far and happy Wednesday!

Yes! I think distance learning, especially this time of year post-spring break and before summer break, has been difficult. I love being able to see him learn, but it’s been a lot for all of us. When I was in the hardest part of newborn days, my mom said the same thing to me – one day at a time. It’s advice I’ve come back to many times!
