Weekend Roundup: No. 297

I’m very happy to have made it through this recent cold weather and looking forward to a warmer weekend spent outdoors. Thankfully our basement is finished and we were able to have another space to play in this week!

The process of finishing our basement was stressful and cost about twice as much as we thought it would (why does that happen with every home project??!), but it only took about half a day for both Jim and I to declare it worth it.

We went through different iterations of what we wanted the space to be before construction started and decided we wanted it to be a place for all of us to be active. There’s a ladder and monkey bars on one wall (Lawson and Sybil LOVE it) and a big TV on the other side that’s been perfect for doing barre3 online classes.

On Wednesday afternoon, I took the kiddos to the Children’s Museum. We hadn’t been in over a year and Lawson would ask about it every other week. I ended up renewing our annual membership. They currently require reservations for a 90-minute stay so they can clean in between sessions. It was actually really nice to have a specific enter and exit time. We’re already planning on going back.

On and off for the past two years, Sybil has had a very difficult time in her carseat. She frequently screams that it is too tight, which I think in turn makes her anxious and maybe claustrophobic because she’s constantly trying to get out.

After some suggestions from her therapist (she’s in occupational therapy) and pediatrician along with me re-establishing boundaries, it’s been four days without any tears. I cannot tell you how lovely it is to have a calm car ride after months of stress for both of us. I have no idea if it will last, but I’m relishing it while I can.

I’m starting off the weekend with a facial this afternoon. Tomorrow Lawson has soccer and golf (weather permitting) and Jim is playing in a golf tournament on Sunday. Whatever you’re up to, have a great weekend!
