Weekend Roundup: No. 253

Weekend Roundup

Well, it’s been a long two weeks. I thought we were out of the woods with sickness, but then Sybil came down with a fever early last week. She’s been pretty miserable for over a week.

After suffering through a Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Schitt’s Creek and The Office rerun withdrawals, we started watching Fleabag. We’re 4 episodes in and I’m still undecided. I felt the same way after season 1 of Schitt’s Creek and ended up loving the series so I’ll stick with Fleabag for a bit longer. Have you watched Cheer? I haven’t, but it’s on my list.

I registered Lawson for kindergarten. How is he old enough for kindergarten this fall??! We had some really sweet time together this week. I’m reminding myself to cherish those random moments.

I rarely buy ahead seasons in clothing for Lawson and Sybil since it’s hard to predict their size and what they’ll like in a year. Sybil has worn this Target star sweatshirt and Old Navy fair isle sweater each week. The sweatshirt is still regular price at $7 and the sweater has been marked down to $10. I’ve been really impressed with the quality of both.

I was really on top of working out last week even in the midst of sleepless nights with a sick Sybil. This week, not so much. I’m trying to turn that around starting yesterday with a 3-mile run (really jog, I am so slow) and continue into the weekend. I’ve said it before, but I’m a much happier person when I get that stress release.

A Kule striped shirt has been on my want list for years. They are an investment so I’d held off. Then I saw they are on super sale for 75% off. I ordered a Modern Long to see how it compares to my well loved Saint James shirt. I thought the red/white/blue would be cute for summer holidays. In case you’re interested in my thought process, I considered the short sleeve but decided I could wear the long with sleeves rolled up in the summer too.

This weekend we’re going to the Denver Nuggets game on Sunday afternoon. Lawson has wanted to go bowling so we might try that tomorrow depending how Sybil feels. Otherwise we’re free of plans and it feels kind of nice.

HIGH POINT:

I knew last Wednesday night was going to be a long night with Sybil sick, so I headed to the rec center for a 3-mile run when Jim got home from work. Normally I’d be too tired by 7pm, but I was proud of myself for making the decision to fit in a workout when I could. I also felt my patience level getting low and a good run always seems to help.

LOW POINT:

Ugh, this ongoing sickness in our house. Go away!

FIND OF THE WEEK:

Once a week we go out to lunch and Lawson and Sybil get a lemonade or iced tea. I was bringing a Yeti tumbler for myself, but we had to use plastic to go cups for them. Sine my resolution for 2020 is not to buy anything in a plastic cup or water bottles, Lawson and Sybil each got a Stojo collapsible cup in their stocking. After seeing their cups in action, I had to order one of my own. I’ve already got them lined up as ideas for a bunch of people on my holiday list!

CURRENTLY READING:

I skipped past Boys in the Boat when I picked up Christmas Shopaholic at the library on Wednesday. I feel as if I’ve been reunited with Bex, Suze and the rest of the Shopaholic series crew. I finished it in two days! Now I’m reading So Here’s the Thing… before returning to Boys in the Boat.
