Halfway through June I decided to put my spending on hold for a month. I felt like a 30-day reset would be good for us (and our budget). We’re really trying to incentive the kids to help about the house. They earn an allowance for doing certain chores daily or weekly. I told them the money they earn can be used to buy the items they want. Really trying to stick to it! So most of these items were purchased before the middle of the month.
What I Bought in June
Silk sleep mask: I found myself in the midst of a 12-day trip sharing a bedroom with the kids unable to sleep because they want a nightlight and I prefer darkness. After 3 less than stellar nights of sleep, I somewhat panic purchased this sleep mask. It’s worked like a charm.
Michael Stars shirt: While shopping in Arizona, I browsed Evereve for the second time (I’d been into their Boulder store once). The salesperson was wearing this navy shirt. I loved the look so much, I copied her and bought it too. I wear it at least once a week.
Botanical dress: I ordered and returned a few other white dresses this spring. When Hill House brought back the blue botanical design from last year, I decided to stick with what I know. I size down in the Ellie style. Hill House updated the style this summer with a longer smocking and pockets. I now have 3 Ellies and am constantly reaching for them.
Marine Layer Devon tank: Another in store impulse purchase, I own the Devon tank in black and always wear it a lot each spring/summer. Muscle tank styles are easy because you don’t have to worry about a bra showing. I never saw it in other colors last year and stepped outside my comfort zone with the coral. It’s not the best color for me, but looks great with light denim and gold necklaces layered on top. I’ve also worn it with jacket 15. The coral and blue look great together!
Sonos speaker: One of Jim’s Father’s Day gifts is this portable speaker. We haven’t used it a lot yet, but it’s worked well so far.
Washer toss: Last fall Jim mentioned he’d like a washer toss game for the backyard. We granted his wish for Father’s Day this year with this set from Etsy.
Summersalt one-piece: I did take advantage of Summersalt’s rare 30% off sale to get this navy one-piece. I read recently to invest in a blue or red swimsuit – it will work for 3 of the major summer holidays! Plus, navy looks best with my skin tone.
Beach towels: The kids are in swim lessons this summer. They use a beach towel from Pottery Barn that we’ve had for years after they get out of the pool. After they shower, they don’t like to use the towel that’s already wet to dry off again. I found these small beach towels and decided to give them a try.
Wide-leg girls pants: One of Sybil’s friends had these pants on a couple of weeks ago. They were so cute, comfortable and different from the normal styles. I waited for a sale and then gave them a try for Sybil.
Palm Tree swim trunk: The swim trunks from Janie and Jack fit Lawson really well. These are now less than $15 with free shipping this weekend. I wish I would have waited to order them! I also ordered him this seersucker pair of shorts. They are less than $10!
While I haven’t placed an order yet, I am definitely taking advantage of the Starfish Kids holiday sale. I had already started a back to school shopping list for the kids. Lawson will need almost all new pants – the Starfish slim joggers fit him so well. I am going to order another 2 pairs for him. If you have a tall and lean child, I highly recommend checking them out.
Mesh pouches: We’ve been going through our LEGO collection set and needed more storage. These are a repeat order for me.
