Weekend Roundup

Stuart Weitzman 5050

Happy Friday the 13th! I hate scary movies, but love a good Friday the 13th.

This week has been up and down for me. I did not have a lot of patience for my kiddos earlier and lost my cool more than I’d like. We rebounded and had a couple of fun days so we’re heading into the weekend on a high note.

Tonight we’re going out for a belated holiday party. I’m excited to get dressed up a bit! There’s rain in the forecast (maybe coming from the storms in California?) so we’re likely  to be stuck inside. I let my accounting certification lapse and am now playing catch up on continuing education. I still need to complete over 40 hours to renew my certification. I really should get some done this weekend, but it threatens to put me to sleep every time I work on it!

Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it’s a great one!

Consider this your splurge, but save PSA…Neiman Marcus is having a tiered sale. The more you spend, the more you save. If you’ve ever thought about splurging on a pair of Stuart Weitzman 5050 over the knee boots, now is the time to save $200. That’s over 30% off! Nordstrom will match their price as long as they have the same size and color in stock. I know the boots are still a splurge, but I’ve never a deal as good as this one and couldn’t let it pass without mentioning it. But, hurry the sale ends tonight!

Over the past few months, I’d occasionally see Dan Rather pop up on my Facebook newsfeed. I finally “liked” his page last week. Now I look forward to his posts every single day. He’s a journalist that I respect. No matter how busy I am I read each and every word he writes, which these days is mostly about the incoming administration.

I made a blueberry buckle and Lawson loved it! He ate it for breakfast and snacks. There are probably other recipes, but the one I followed is below (courtesy of my parent’s friend, Carol):

1/4 c. coconut oil
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. fresh blueberries

Mix all ingredients, blueberries last. Grease and flour 8×8 pan. Pour mixture in. Top with 1/4 c. butter, 1/2 c. flour, 1/2 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Mix and sprinkle over batter. Bake 50 minutes at 350.

Next time I’ll probably add a little extra milk. If you make it, let me know what you think!
