Weekend Roundup: No. 266

Week 8 complete. That deserves a round of applause. Cheers to all of us.

How was your week? Ours was pretty good – nothing exciting or noteworthy, but that’s sort of the hoped for norm right now.

We bought an outdoor umbrella (the striped version) and it may be one of the best home purchases we’ve ever made. Outside lunches are a regular occurrence. I grab my laptop, the kiddos play in the backyard and then we do an activity or watch videos that their teachers have sent along. I see more of the same all summer long.

The kiddos and I have been taking early morning walks right after breakfast, pajamas, unbrushed teeth and all. It’s a nice way to start the day.

Other than take out Thai on Sunday night, we don’t have any plans this weekend. I joke with Jim that Mother’s Day is one of two mornings a year that I get to sleep in (the other is my birthday).

I don’t even want to necessarily sleep until 9 or 10, but I am looking forward to a lazy morning where I don’t have to get out of bed with the Lawson and Sybil. An at home manicure and pedicure would also be quite nice.

Happy Mother’s Day to my own mom, MILs and all the mamas in my life and yours!

HIGH POINT:

Lawson and I are big fans of Vampire Weekend. We had an epic lunchtime dance party this week and sing along to Harmony Hall at least twice a day.

LOW POINT:

We drove past the community pool and Lawson asked when it was going to open. He was so disappointed when I told him I wasn’t sure if it would open this summer because of the virus. I tried to reassure him that if it didn’t, we’d still have lots and lots of summers to spend at the pool.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

If the temperature is over 60, it’s a given Lawson and Sybil will change into their swimsuits at some point in the day. I bought SwimZip rash guard suits for them for years (Sybil’s latest is this set). TBH, I wish they had more styles, but the zippered rash guard is key. It’s so much easier to get off when soaking wet. They run really big – Sybil is 3.5 years old and still wears 12-18 months. Lawson wears a size 3T shirt (I buy his shorts separately).

CURRENTLY READING:

I read Feels Like Falling in 3 days. It’s a perfect feel good book. I’m almost 50 pages into If I Never Met You. Give me all the light, beachy reads!
