Erica Kartak

In honor of my 41st birthday, I thought I’d share 25 things you might not know about me. I always love reading these types of lists. It’s a fun way to get to know more about someone. I read it to my family this weekend and we had a few laughs. There were even some facts my mom didn’t know!

1. I am fascinated with numbers. I am always trying to see how a set of numbers add or subtract together.
2. I love camping. There’s something about being in nature and disconnecting that really appeals to me.
3. I had my son when I was 38. My daughter was born 4 days after my 40th birthday.
4. I’ve run 1 marathon, 3 half-marathons and 8 200+ mile relay races.
5. Iced green tea is my drink of choice.
6. My first job was as a cashier at a grocery store. I still like to bag groceries.
7. I don’t have a tattoo, but I plan to get one very soon.
8. I’ve lived in two states and tomorrow I’ll add another one to that list (LA here we come!)
9. My parents called me Erica America when I was young.
10. In grade school I was jealous of other nicknames and decided mine would be Ricki.
11. My dream is to open a barre3 studio.
12. Or a nail salon.
13. Lawson and Sybil were the first names we considered when I got pregnant. Clearly they stuck.
14. I grew up in a state park. My dad managed the park. Our house was partially underground.
15. I am deathly afraid of snakes.
16. I’m also afraid of heights. I cried hiking in the Grand Canyon.
17. My initials are ELK. My middle name is Lynn.
18. Growing up my favorite movie was Clueless. I watched it every night before bed. Now it’s Pitch Perfect.
19. I love making homemade pizza. I want to make it a Friday night tradition.
20. My first car was a 1988 Honda Civic manual that I called “creamy.”
21. My favorite alcoholic drink is a dirty martini with extra olives.
22. I love to take naps.
23. I graduated from college a quarter early to travel throughout Europe for 5 weeks with my best friend.
24. I ran track in high school. The 4 x 400 relay was my favorite event.
25. I’m a certified public accountant.
