Happy Monday and the beginning of Cyber Week! I am writing this on Sunday night and fully expect to be inundated with sale emails starting tomorrow. I have a few items on my list for this week and need to get organized so I can take advantage of any sales. I love a good sale!
Kicking off my gift guides this week are the best books for 2018. I tried to cover everyone – kids, men, women, cookbooks. Can books be your love language? If so, they would definitely be mine (along with holiday pajamas). I hope you find something to help with your gifting list this year or maybe add to your own wish list!
Books for Everyone in the Family
THE GREAT ALONE ($20) // THE FIFTH RISK ($16) // TOMORROW I’LL BE BRAVE ($13) // LOVE AND OTHER WORDS ($9) // HOW TO PACK ($6) // HALF BAKED HARVEST ($21) // EDUCATED ($17) // ONCE A RUNNER ($13) // MY LITTLE GIFTS ($14) // BOOKMARK ($14) // SPOON ($11) // GOSSIE & GERTIE ($7) // MY DREAMS ($12) // BE KIND ($10) // THE ULTIMATE CONSTRUCTION SITE BOOK ($22) // THE RAINBOW FISH ($17) // BECOMING ($20) // HERE WE ARE ($15) // THE INCOMPLETE BOOK OF RUNNING ($18) // ONCE UPON A CHEF ($20)
I’ve read 15 books this year and two of my top 3 are on this list. The Great Alone and Love and Other Words. The other, The Nightingale, I didn’t include simply because it’s a little older. All three books are very different, but have stuck with me months later.
I consider a good cookbook to be a perfect coffee table book. I picked up Half Baked Harvest from the library yesterday and it quickly made it to the top of my wish list (tied with The Minimalist Kitchen). The recipes are mouthwatering and the photography is gorgeous. And then I read the author lives in Colorado and I was sold. Santa, if you’re reading please get this for me!
One of our top 5 favorite kids books is Here We Are. It’s a beautiful introduction to our world and the people in it. Another of our top 5 is In My Heart. I was excited to see the author has a new book, My Little Gifts, about sharing. We could use a little help in that department around our house!
Tomorrow I’ll Be Brave and Be Kind are at the top of Lawson and Sybil’s wish list. I love a book with a good story.
A bookmark is on my personal wish list this year. I’m always using a random piece of paper to keep my spot and ready to upgrade.
I’m not exactly sure how I ended up with two running books on this list, but alas here we are. Once a Runner and The Incomplete Book of Running would both be great for the runners (or would be runners) in your life.
Although I get most of my books at the library these days, Educated is one I’ll be purchasing. It’s been called the best book of 2018 by many and the wait list at the library is a mile long.
And if all else fails, gift a book of the month membership!

I have read about half of these and the other half are on my to-be-read list. Great recommendations. I know I love getting books as gifts.
