Although there’s probably photographic evidence to the contrary somewhere, wearing a lot of makeup has never been my thing. I’m not very good at applying it and since I stopped working I don’t feel the need to wear makeup as often as I used to.
That said, there are definitely days I want to look like a slightly better version of myself. I recently stopped into Vert Beauty, a green beauty brand in Denver, and picked up two new products that I really like (you can also shop them online).
I always enjoy seeing what products others have in their bags or on their shelves so I thought I’d share an update on what’s currently in my makeup bag. They are all clean makeup products with two exceptions that I plan to switch out when my current items run out.
(How cute is Sybil’s barrette in my bag? She refuses to wear anything in her hair, but it makes me smile every time I see it. I’ll keep trying until she relents. I fully realize I could be waiting awhile.)
What’s in My (Mostly Clean) Makeup Bag?
Beautycounter // Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer in No. 2: Dew Skin is one of the first Beautycounter products I tried. I’m still a loyalist two years later. I apply it with a Beautyblender sponge for dewy coverage, otherwise it can get thicker than I want in spots.
Beautycounter // Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation in Linen: I use Tint Skin when I want slightly more coverage and/or don’t need the SPF in Dew Skin. Like Dew Skin, I apply it with a Beautyblender sponge. I’m at an age where I feel if I don’t use a sponge to apply foundation, it settles into my wrinkles and I look older than I already am.
Lily Lolo // Pressed Mineral Blush in Tickled Pink: This is the first clean blush I’ve tried and I doubt I’ll give another a chance. The color is perfect. If I only used 3 items, this would be one of them.
Ilia // True Skin Serum Concealer in Chicory: I stopped into Vert Beauty looking for a new concealer. The salesperson recommended Ilia True Skin Serum. I’ve been really happy with it. There’s nothing worse than concealer that dries out (I tried RMS Uncoverup, but thought it was drying) and settles into your creases.
Jane Iredale // Eyeshadow & Primer in Gold: While I don’t wear eyeshadow, I do want a little coverage/color on my eyelids. The salesperson recommended applying this product with your fingertips, which is my preferred (i.e., lazy) method. If you’re looking for a true eyeshadow, this product isn’t for you. It reminds me more of the MAC paint pot.
Glossier // Boy Brow in Brown: I find a brow gel easier to use than a pencil. Glossier’s Boy Brow has a cult following. It’s easy to use and it works. I recently tried Beautycounter’s Brilliant Brow Gel and really liked it. Since it’s a clean product, I’m going to make the switch once I run out of Boy Brow.
Glossier // Lash Slick: I needed to replace my mascara when I was re-ordering Boy Brow and decided to try Glossier’s version so my order would qualify for free shipping. It won’t give you the longest lashes, but that’s okay with me. It doesn’t clump, which is my #1 priority when it comes to mascara. I want to try the Lily Lolo Natural mascara next for a cleaner option.
Ilia // Lip Gloss in Peek a Boo: This is quite possibly the only lip gloss that looks good on everyone. I wear it alone or layer it over the Ilia lip conditioner or Kari Gran lip whip.
Ilia // Tinted Lip Conditioner in Nobody’s Baby: I can count on one hand the amount of times I wear lipstick in a year. When I do, I want the slightest hint of color and this is it.
Kari Gran // Lip Whip in Radiant: My makeup list wouldn’t be complete without the lip balm I stash around the house and in my bag. It’s the only makeup product I use every single day!
So those are the clean makeup products I currently use! Do you wear makeup every day? What are your go to products?
