Staying Sane With Two Kids

How to Stay Patient with Young Kids How to Stay Patient with Young Kids How to Stay Patient with Young Kids How to Stay Patient with Young Kids How to Stay Patient with Young Kids

Motherhood is hard. Some days are really, really hard. Monday was one of those days for me. I slept for 4.5 hours on Sunday night and had zero patience. I was in tears by 8am. I was yelling and swearing. I honestly didn’t think I could make it through the day. As a stay at home mom, I didn’t have another choice. (By the way, I don’t think working parents have it any easier. Most of the stresses are all the same.)

So I did what any social media loving mother would do and I turned to Instagram for advice on how to stay patient with young kids when you feel like you don’t have anything left to give. It might seem silly since I haven’t even met some of my Instagram friends in real life, but they’ve saved me more than once in my short time as a mama. So here are my crowdsourced tips on how to stay patient with young kids.

  1. Laugh. Hard. Even if you have to fake it at first.
  2. Lock yourself in the bathroom. Cry. Pull it together. Eat chocolate. (In that order)
  3. Share with others (misery loves company, right?!)
  4. Go outside. Change the scenery.
  5. Give yourself permission for non-perfection.
  6. Try to sleep as soon as they do.

I was scrolling through the blogs I read this morning and came across this post from Naomi. Maybe it’s the season or something is in the air because it seems I’m not the only one short on patience. So I’m adding her advice – to stop and give a deliberate hug – to my list. I’m writing this list down on actual paper and carrying it with me. I have a feeling I’ll need to reference it often.

As for this outfit, I’m ready to wear jeans again. It’s been pretty warm the past week. I’m craving cooler temperatures and jeans (even if they are a summer white).
