Today’s the day, it’s the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale early access. If you’re a cardholder, you can shop starting at 12:30 ET/9:30PT. The sale will open to the public next Friday and continue through August 4th.
While I’ve shopped the sale for years and still get excited about it, it is important to remember that it’s just a sale. Yes, there are some great deals, but there’s no need to go crazy. Last year I only bought one thing, a pair of sneakers for Lawson. There just wasn’t anything else I needed or wanted.
Do you ever wonder why every blogger and their mother posts about the sale? The answer is because it’s a great time to make money. I’ve spent hours this week going through the sale items to share what I am truly interested in and think is worth the money. I would never tell you to buy something if I didn’t love it myself!
It seems sort of silly to spend a lot on fall items when we’re smack in the middle of summer. Some of the items on sale will sell out, but anything that doesn’t will go on sale in another 8-10 weeks for the same price.
That said, it is a great time to buy basics that you already need. I focus my search on premium denim, bras and underwear, and shoes for the kids. This year I’m also adding a long sleeve workout shirt since it was a gap in my running wardrobe this past winter.

5 Items That Will Sell Out
ONE // HydroFlask Water Bottle: This is a great price on a 32 oz HydroFlask bottle with the straw lid. These are rarely on sale, although I did see them for 30% off at Whole Foods right now but they didn’t have the straw lid. If I needed another water bottle, I’d get this in a heartbeat.
TWO // Mother The Hustler Jeans: Jeans are always some of the first items to sell out and I think this pair will be a hit. The cropped, frayed hems will look great with booties this fall.
THREE // Madewell Remi Mules: There’s always a pair of leopard or patterned shoes that sell out quickly. These are less than $55 on sale. I’d wear them with any shade of denim!
FOUR // Gal Meets Glam Jumpsuit: New Gal Meets Glam Collection items are never on sale so I was shocked to see them a part of the Anniversary Sale. I’d grab this jumpsuit and save it for holiday parties. I also like this dress and this cropped jumpsuit.
FIVE // Barefoot Dreams Cardigan: The ultimate in coziness.
5 Items I’m Purchasing
ONE // Natori Feathers Underwire Bra: The only bra I own, I’m getting another while it’s on sale.
TWO // Hanky Panky Low Rise Thong: I’m a creature of habit and this is my day underwear. I am using the sale to rotate out pairs that have seen better days and replenish my stash.
THREE // Sweaty Betty Long Sleeve Run Tee: My winter workout wardrobe was sorely lacking last year. Sweaty Betty is a new to me brand. I’ve heard great reviews and am going to give it a shot.
FOUR // Halogen Seemless Tank: I need a nude tank to wear under a couple of eyelet tops when the weather gets colder (also in a cami version).
FIVE // Avec Les Filles Leopard Dress: I am really picky about leopard print and I haven’t found a dress that fits in over a year, but I’m willing to give this one a shot. How cute would it be with tights and black boots??
5 Investment Pieces
ONE // J. Crew Parke Blazer: This is one of my top 3 favorite items from the sale. I love everything about it – the color and style are perfect! If I worked in an office environment, I’d definitely grab it.
TWO // Barbour Waterproof Raincoat: Barbour is a brand that is known for their quality products. It’s not your typical raincoat color, but I prefer it to darker colors.
THREE // AG Ankle Cigarette Jeans: A great wash and style that you’ll wear for ages.
FOUR // Treasure & Bond Leather Jacket: You cannot go wrong with a black leather jacket.
FIVE // Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee Boots: These are a similar style to the 5050 boots that I own and love.
