Pinehurst - The Carolina Inn

Pinehurst, North Carolina is the site of the 2014 US Open in June (golf, not tennis). The Golf Channel Amateur Golf Tour that my boyfriend plays in had a tournament there in mid-March. I decided to tag along for moral support. As the vacation got closer and I researched more about Pinehurst, I got more and more excited. I had never been anywhere in North Carolina. Although a little cool for this Arizonian, it is such a beautiful place filled with green trees and lovely old, white buildings.

We stayed at The Carolina Inn at Pinehurst. The view as you drive up is stunning. A narrow road opening up to perfectly manicured grounds. The hotel is filled with golf history. Did you know a driver used to be known as a play club?  Or a 3-wood was a spoon? Me neither!

The Village of Pinehurst is a quick 5 minute walk from the hotel. I recommend the cheeseburger with pretzel roll bun and a beer at Too Blonde Tavern and the blueberry peach cobbler and a martini at Tavern at The Holly Inn. An afternoon at The Spa at Pinehurst is a great way to start the weekend (read more here).

We mixed in dinner with family outside of Raleigh on Saturday night and with an old friend in Charlotte on Sunday. I’m so glad I decided to tag along on this trip. I visited someplace I never would have otherwise and fell in love!
