How is it already the 4th of July?? I haven’t thought about the saying that got me through many a newborn day…”the days are long, but the years are short”…but it seems to apply to the last four months as well.
Well, if you missed my post earlier this week, we are homeowners! Last night I was randomly thinking about something in the garage and had a thought about the next people that would rent this house. And then I remembered we own it!
I didn’t realize hearing “I’m bored” would begin at 5 years old, but here we are. Even I am bored of our day to day, so on Wednesday we mixed it up and went on an adventure to St. Mary’s Glacier, which is an hour west of Denver. While there was plenty of whining on the hike up, the views were incredible.
From the trailhead, it took us 2.5 hours round trip. This includes two slow preschoolers, one that refuses to wear anything other than rainboots, 5 stops to pee and ample time at the top. Sick of the whining at one point, I told them that sometimes we have to do hard things to have an adventure. The entire way down Sybil repeated it to Lawson interspersed with “you don’t have to worry about me, I’m a brave adventurer”. Gotta love that girl.
Do you have any plans for the holiday weekend? Jim golfed Friday morning and I had an outdoor, socially distanced happy hour with friends. That is pretty much the extent of our plans. Oh, and house projects. We placed a few orders this week and are waiting on an estimate for painting projects. The joys of home ownership!
HIGH POINT:
It has to be closing on our house, right??!
LOW POINT:
An ongoing funk that I fall in and out of, but can’t quite shake.
FIND OF THE WEEK:
The Chelsea boots I wore last winter are now on sale for 50% off. They recommend ordering a half size up from your normal. I did so and even those required some breaking in. I do wear mine with thick socks, but never got any blisters.
CURRENTLY READING:
I am reading two books at the same time, which I rarely ever do. The first is Untamed and the other is Beach Read. If you’re looking for a light, fun read, so far I prefer The Happy Ever After Playlist, which I read last week, to Beach Read.
