Weekend Roundup: No. 232

Weekend

This week was our last normal week before preschool starts. On Sunday we leave for a two day camping trip and then we’re off to San Diego to celebrate Sybil and my birthdays.

Lawson, Sybil and I went downtown to the Children’s Museum this week. Afterwards we stopped at Wunderkin to check out their bows for Sybil. I had sent them a message on Instagram months ago inquiring about retail locations. They don’t have retail space, but said we were welcome to stop by their offices. So we did! I thought if Sybil picked out bows and barrettes herself, maybe she’d actually wear them. The entire team was the sweetest and so welcoming!

I came across a post about dressing for your body type that I found helpful. My pre- and post-pregnancy body is quite different (hopefully mostly due to my fibroid). I’ve had to learn how to dress to hide certain areas (hello, 20 week pregnant stomach) while accentuating others (we wear short shorts, if you dare wear short shorts…).

I’ve been updating the kids wish list in my shop with Lawson and Sybil’s favorites for fall, along with a few items on their “want” list. I also created an Amazon Finds section that is mostly filled with my go to gear and toys for the kiddos.

Today we’re prepping for school and camping with haircut appointments and a trip to Target and REI. Gotta pick up some bear spray – safety first! Then tonight Jim and I are going to the Mumford & Sons concert. Tickets were on my Christmas wish list. Needless to say, I am very, very excited.

Tomorrow I’m treating myself to a pre-birthday pedicure and maybe a solo shopping trip. Madewell and J. Crew both sent $25 gift cards for my birthday since I’m a rewards member. Otherwise we’re getting ready for our upcoming adventures. I have a fun giveaway planned for my birthday so make sure you check back next week!

HIGH POINT:

On Wednesday Lawson wanted to go on a walk after they got their pajamas on. Instead of saying no like I normally would, I said yes. It felt special and they were tired for bedtime.

LOW POINT:

You know, we had a pretty good week. I prioritized running in the mornings before Jim left for work. I think it made all the difference in my attitude. So no low points to report!

FIND OF THE WEEK:

Have you heard of the Amazon nightgown? It isn’t really a nightgown, but Grace Atwood of The Stripe coined this dress/caftan/mumu a nightgown. I normally do not promote buying clothes on Amazon as I don’t like to support fast fashion, but for $27 I couldn’t pass trying it out. If you’re looking for a coverup to dinner dress, this would definitely work! You can see it on me here. A quick note on sizing – It can be a little tight in the chest. I’d recommend going up one size (I’m wearing a small).

CURRENTLY READING:

I’m still waiting on any one of my 12 library holds to come in. Sybil did ask for a list of books I wanted for my birthday so maybe I’ll get The Unhoneymooners, The Hating Game or Here’s to Us next week??!
