What a week! We went from 90 and sunny on Monday to 35 and rain/snow on Tuesday. The weather this week has been wild.
It’s hard to believe today is the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I remember exactly where I was when I watched the towers fall and the feeling in the pit of my stomach. My heart goes out to everyone that lost loved ones. #neverforget
We are starting to get into a better groove with at home learning. Lawson has lessons with his class online and I’m supplementing with materials from The Good and the Beautiful, which I’m also using with Sybil. Dare I say some days have even been fun??
Have you seen the photos from Northern California and the forest fires? They are eerie and beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Last weekend we had a small glimpse of what people in Northern California are experiencing. The sky was grey with smoke and then turned orange later in the day. Ash was falling from the sky. Luckily for us the rain and snow blew it out. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be living in it day after day, not to mention the people that have had to evacuate or lost their homes.
Dudley Stephens: Use code lemonstripes20 for 20% off your order. They never have a blanket discount code so if you’ve been thinking about one of their fleeces, grab one on sale now. I have the Park Slope in navy. If you’re between sizes, I would recommend going up. I have my normal size and it’s a little tight in the arms. The promo ends tonight, Saturday the 12th.
I don’t know if it’s just my kids, but all summer long they got up before 7am. The past couple of weeks their wakeup time has been getting later and later. I don’t blame them, I want to stay in bed too!
This weekend Jim is playing in a golf tournament tomorrow. Lawson has his own golf lessons. We ordered knobs for the guest bathroom cabinet that should arrive on Saturday so that will be a Sunday project. I’ve been very inconsistent runner the past few weeks and hope to get in two straight days this weekend.
HIGH POINT:
I got my braces off this week! They had mentioned it as a possibility at my previous appointment, but that’s happened before and then I wasn’t ready. But, this time I was! They look so nice and straight. Now I need a cleaning for them to really sparkle.
On a related note, I have a pretty bad gag reflex. I cannot stop gagging when I have my retainer in. I wear it at night without issues, but not for longer than 10 minutes during the day. Anyone experience this and have any tips?
LOW POINT:
While I love the change in seasons, I do not like being cold.
FIND OF THE WEEK:
This dress from Target is very cute. It’s pretty voluminous so keep that in mind if you order it. I think it runs one size too big.
I used to cut off the back of my mouth guard or I would have that pre-gag feeling. Not sure you can do that with a retainer though.
